About the Road Maintenance Program

The Draft Road Maintenance Program outlines the work planned to maintain Washington County’s transportation system in an efficient and cost-effective way. Our approach is to apply the right level of maintenance at the right time, helping extend the life of our transportation infrastructure and reducing the need for costly reconstruction.

Why it matters to you

Road maintenance affects daily travel, neighborhood safety, commute reliability, drainage and flooding resilience, and the overall condition of the roads we all depend on. Community feedback helps ensure that the work we plan aligns with real‑world needs and the experiences of people who use these roads every day.

Highlights of the Draft FY 2026–27 Road Maintenance Program include:

  • 28 miles of gravel road surface stabilization
  • 10 miles of paving performed by LUT crews
  • 13 miles of chip seal
  • 8.3 miles of contracted paving (24,500 tons of asphaltic concrete)
  • 3.2 miles of contracted paving for the Urban Road Maintenance District (6,800 tons of asphaltic concrete)
  • 18.3 miles of contracted slurry seal for the Urban Road Maintenance District
  • 2 major culvert replacement
  • 16 culvert replacements performed by LUT crews
